GTA 6 Main Protagonists
For GTA 6, Rockstar Games is continuing the trend of featuring multiple playable characters, a concept that began with Grand Theft Auto V.
In GTA 6, there are two main protagonists: Jason and, for the first time in the series, a female character named Lucia. Their last names have yet to be revealed.
Lucia, a Latina woman, marks the first time a female character has been playable in a modern Rockstar game. The leaked clips suggest that Jason and Lucia are in a relationship, drawing inspiration from the infamous Great Depression-era duo, Bonnie and Clyde.
Similar to GTA V, GTA 6 will include a character-switching mechanic, allowing players to switch between Jason and Lucia at any time by pressing “Down” on the D-Pad.

As of now, Grand Theft Auto VI is set to feature two main protagonists: a Caucasian male named Jason and a Latina female named Lucia. Their last names remain unknown. Both characters seem to be in their late 20s to early 30s and are romantically involved. Initial rumors hinted at a Bonnie and Clyde-inspired narrative, which aligns with scenes from the first official trailer showing them committing robberies together.
The game is expected to include a character-switching function similar to Grand Theft Auto V, enabling players to switch between Lucia and Jason seamlessly.
Meet the Other Confirmed Characters in GTA 6
 Cal Hampton |
Cal’s the kind of guy who keeps a low profile and likes it that way. He’s Jason’s friend and one of Brian’s trusted associates, but don’t expect to find him in the middle of the action. He’s usually posted up at home, eavesdropping on Coast Guard chatter with a beer in hand and a private browser tab (or two) open. Cal’s living at the low tide of America and perfectly fine staying there. Paranoia keeps him company, but Jason’s got bigger things on his mind. |

He might look like just another laid-back Leonida beach bum, but Brian moves like a shark when it counts. A veteran drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys, he still runs product through his boat yard with help from his third wife, Lori. These days, Brian keeps his hands clean and lets others handle the mess. He’s letting Jason crash at one of his properties rent-free, as long as he helps out with the occasional shakedown and shows up for Lori’s sangria now and then. |

Raul has confidence, charm, and just enough recklessness to make every heist feel like a high-stakes game. A seasoned bank robber, he’s always looking for fresh talent willing to risk it all for a big payday. But with each job, the danger climbs. Raul pushes hard, plays fast, and never looks back. At some point, his crew will have to decide, go all in or get out while they still can. |

Dre’Quan was never trying to be the biggest gangster on the block. Hustling was just a way to survive while chasing something bigger, a shot at the music game. Now that he’s signed Real Dimez, things are starting to move. Booking acts at Boobie’s strip club kept the lights on, but Dre’Quan’s focus is shifting. He’s aiming to make waves in the Vice City music scene, and he’s betting everything on this next chapter. |

Boobie is a Vice City legend and he knows it. One of the rare few who turned street hustle into a real empire, he’s built up everything from real estate to a strip club to a full-blown recording studio. Always smiling, always smooth, until it’s time to handle business. He might look like he’s in it for himself, but Boobie’s got his sights set on something bigger. His partnership with rising music mogul Dre’Quan and their label Only Raw Records is personal. Now all they need is a hit. |

Bae-Luxe and Roxy, known as Real Dimez, have been close since high school. What started with hustling local dealers turned into something way bigger. They poured that street hustle into raw rap tracks and built a loyal following through nonstop content. Their breakout hit with local rapper DWNPLY put them on the map. Now, after five years of ups, downs, and drama, they’ve signed with Only Raw Records and are chasing that second big moment. |

Bae-Luxe and Roxy, better known as Real Dimez, have been tight since high school. Back then, they were hustling in the streets, flipping small-time shakeups into something bigger. With fiery rap tracks and nonstop social media grind, they turned heads fast. Their first big break came with a hit single alongside local rapper DWNPLY. Now, five wild years later and plenty of drama behind them, they’ve just signed with Only Raw Records. They’re betting big that lightning can hit twice. |

Works for the Leonida Department of Corrections. It remains uncertain if she will play a significant role in Lucia’s life following her release from prison. Interestingly, she is the first voice heard in GTA VI, speaking at the very beginning of the initial trailer. |

Appearing in Trailer 1, this character is adorned with tattoos and gold chains and is seen shaking hands with another tattooed man. He might be “Kai,” a name spotted in the leaked footage, potentially hinting at a playable character. Alternatively, he could be a significant story character, possibly a high-ranking member of one of Leonida’s gangs. |

Appearing in the first trailer, she is seen energizing the dance floor. It’s unclear if she will play a significant role in the game. |

Spotted in the social media segment of the first trailer, he is on a boat surrounded by numerous girls in bikinis. |

Appears in Trailer 1 dancing on top of a car while someone inside records the scene for ‘content.’ |

Spotted in the developer menus from the leaked footage, this non-playable character might be a friend of Lucia. She could be one of the girls dancing at the car meet in Trailer 1 and appears to be active on social media. |

In the social media segment of Trailer 1, an elderly woman holding two hammers is one of the rare characters who speaks, suggesting she might have a more significant role in the story. |
Friends & Contacts
As with previous Grand Theft Auto games, the protagonists in GTA VI will be surrounded by a wide array of contacts, friends, and potential foes. We expect a similarly diverse cast of characters in this new installment. Some of the characters we’ve identified so far are listed above.

Returning Characters
Currently, there is no information suggesting that characters from previous GTA games will return. However, Jay Norris, the former Life Invader CEO from GTA V, was mentioned in some dialogue. Given that the game is set in Vice City, it’s possible we might see some familiar faces from the original game, such as Kent Paul, originally voiced by Danny Dyer. Unfortunately, a return of Tommy Vercetti is unlikely due to the passing of his voice actor, Ray Liotta, in 2022.
Interestingly, a building in the leaked footage bears the name “Navaro Shipping Terminal,” which is located south of the Rockridge Neighborhood Service Center. Ray Navarro, a minor character in GTA V who worked for Devon Weston, might be referenced here, though his name was spelled with one ‘R’ in the in-game website.
